" .. being a Man, make Yourself God." John 10:33

Jesus of Nazerath surely left no doubt about it, He was the Messiah. He was God in the flesh. What a truth we have to hold fast to!

And this same Man, who was God, said, " .. I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have the power to lay it down, and I have power to take it agian. This command I have received from My Father." John 10:17-18

The Father loved us so much He gave His Son, and the Son loved the Father so much that He laid down His life, which caused the Father's love for the Son, though infinite and perfect, to swell for His most Beloved. "Therefore My Father loves Me, because ...". ver.17

This is the Good News right here in our Lord's words! The Gospel. And then our Lord says, "I and Father are One". ver. 30
One God in the Father and the Son. (And also the Holy Spirit, though the Lord doesn't mention that here.)
This is what Jesus was proclaiming here, and it was denounced by the religious leaders of Jerusalem as blasphemy, which would have been a righteous charge against any other man, but not this Man. In fact, to not bow before Him, and ask for mercy, and give Him the honor due, is in fact blasphemy against themselves.

"And He went away again beyond the Jordan ... and there He stayed. Then many came to Him.." 10:40-41

Never can get a break really. He leaves the Jews, who wanted to kill Him, and tries to get a way, but the people find Him. These are those who believed in Him, and it surely was a more pleasant atmosphere, but still it must have been hard to constantly be ministering to others needs.

What a servant our Savior was! The Son of God came to serve, how can we do any less?
May the Lord give us strength and courage to serve Him in all the ways He has set before us. Amen.
