That's quite a radical statement. I would love to hear more people speak hard sayings like this, especially from the pulpits. The relentless teachings of how to be a better Christian, and how to do this, and how not to do that, becomes tiresome. Not that we don't need to hear things of this nature. We do. But it just seems like that's what we hear today, for the most part.
It's the how I can succeed generation, because I'm worth it; The God loves me no matter what generation; And Sin is not that big of a deal generation.
Here's some more thoughts from Luther:
"God cannot deny His own nature; He must hate sin and sinners; and this He does of necessity, for otherwise He would be unrighteous and love sin. ....
Thus a Christain man abides in true humility, feeling sin in him effectually, and confessing himself to be worthy of wrath, the judgement of God, and everlasting death. Yet he continually turns to Christ, and in Him he lifts up himself against the feeling of God's wrath and judgement, and believes that not only the remnants of sin are not imputed to him, but also that he is loved by the Father, not for his own sake, but for Christ's sake, whom the Father loves."

Amen, brother! Those statements are provocative by nature and that's exactly what we need to be confronted with the truth that can so easily be taken for granted.
Enjoy your time away with Patrice!
Sin is serious and that is what we seemed to have lost.
Spot on Greg. Truth isn't loved as it should be.
Bro we had a fab time. especially Patrice.
Jazzy, you are spot on as well. Have you ever read JC Ryles Holiness? What an incredible book, which deals with sin in a way that is so vital for us today.
Thanks for coming by. Lord bless you both.
