We sang these wonderful words penned by Keith Green in church a couple weeks ago, and I wanted to share them. It's in tribute to a man of the Lord, who I wish was still around.
"My eyes are dry
My faith is old
My heart is hard
My prayers are cold
And I know how I ought to be
Alive to You and dead to me
But what can be done
For an old heart like mine
Soften it up
With oil and wine
The oil is You, Your Spirit of love
Please wash me anew
With the wine of Your Blood" -Keith Green

...25 years ago today Keith Green went home to be with the Lord

Keith had already died and went to be with our Lord by the time I became a Christian in 1985, but I came to appreciate his music. My personal favorites were "Grace by Which I Stand" and "Run to the End of the Highway"
"Moving won't make your troubles disappear.
And you can search to the end of the highway
and come back no better than before."
"Lord, I remember that special way,
I vowed to serve you, when it was brand new.
But like Peter, I can't even watch and pray, one hour with you,
And I bet, I could deny you too.
But nothing lasts, except the grace of God, by which I stand, in Jesus."
Thanks for sharing those. I wasn't familiar with them, but will be now.
Thanks for the reminder. I had not noticed.
We always got a kick out of a thing he said on one of his recordings. "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald's makes you a hamburger."
Oh, how I wish the church had more people who are filled with God's Spirit and passionately craving the things of the Lord.
I'm with you Craver. Thanks for commenting. The Lord's grace be multiplied to you.
