"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"He ever lives to make intercession." Heb. 7:25
"Who is he that condemns? It is Christ ... who makes intercession for us." Rom. 8:34
"This special intercession of the Lord Jesus is one grand secret of the believer's safety. He is daily watched, and thought for, and provided for with unfailing care, by One whose eye never slumbers and never sleeps. ..."able to save them to the uttermost ..."
He never ceases to pray for them, and His prayer must prevail. They stand and persevere to the end, not because of their own strength and goodness, but because Jesus intercedes for them. When Judas fell never to rise again, while Peter fell, but repented, and was restored, the reason of the difference lay under those words of Christ to Peter, "I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not." (Luke xxii. 32.) - John Charles Ryle
What a truth for the servant of the Lord to embrace with all his might!

Don,
I take such immense comfort from the truth you lay down here. Ryle captures it so well in that quote. Keep posting it, brother!
Thanks be to God for His shepherds who loved His truth, as you do; Greg & JD.
I believe when in glory you two will congregate with the likes of Ryle, Spurgeon, Edwards, and all the other fine pastors of the Lord: The ones He gave to His Church, after His own heart. Jeremiah 3:15
