"..Cursed is the Ground for your sake; ... Thorns also shall it bring forth to you" Genesis 3:17-18

"And they clothed Him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about His head.
And began to salute Him, Hail, King of the Jews!
And they struck Him on the head with a reed, and did spit on Him, and bowing their knees worshipped Him." Mark 15:17-19

Our curse, which we deserve, even the thorns in this earth, Christ took upon Himself. What a Savior!

"O sacred Head, now wounded, with grief and shame weighed down,
Now scornfully surrounded with thorns, Thine only crown;
O sacred Head, what glory, what bliss till now was Thine!
Yet, though despised and gory, I joy to call Thee mine.

What Thou, my Lord, hast suffered, was all for sinners’ gain;
Mine, mine was the transgression, but Thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Savior! ’Tis I deserve Thy place;
Look on me with Thy favor, vouchsafe to me Thy grace."-Bernard of Clairvaux,
