"..making peace by the blood of his cross." -St. Paul, to the saints at Colossae

I have been reading through the book of Colossians.

I thought how it must have been a wonderful blessing for the Christians in Colosse to receive this letter from the Apostle Paul. To have it read to the church as they gathered together. To then make copies of this most precious epistle, and take it home, and read it; enjoy the truths in it; and be encouraged by the love found therein.

We can also rejoice in Paul's letter, and experience the love, joy and peace it brings to our hearts, as we read and ponder these truths prayerfully; as the Holy Spirit enlightens our minds and comforts our souls.

True peace. Isn't that what the human soul longs for? I know I do. The fake peace doesn't do much good, does it? There's plenty of that around. Humanistic peace, or world peace is fleeting at best.

The Apostle says, with the authority of the inspired Word from our Lord, "And having made PEACE through the blood of His Cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself." And he says earlier in this same letter: "Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins."

The true peace, the peace that our souls long for is to be at peace with God. And there's no peace without Christ. God said through Isaiah in two seperate places ,(Isa. 48:22;57:12). there's no peace for the wicked.
However, in the the middle of these two statements, in chapter 53, the Lord's prophet says, "..the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed" (ver.5).

And then in chapter 54 God says to us: "..My kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed, says the LORD that has mercy on you (ver.10)." I say a big Amen to that truth.

Where do we find this "covenant of God's peace"?
At the Cross of Christ!
God has given us His precious Son.
Jesus bled for our sins.
His blood was precious.
Our sins were, and are, wicked deeds which God hates. Christ became our sin (2 Cor. 5:21), and died a sinners death, as our substitute, and we are made righteous in His robe of righteousness. Our every wicked deed, word, and thought are-- through the cross-- forever forgiven. Our sins are cleansed by His blood. And so when a sinner comes to Christ, and bows before Him, and asks for His acceptance, and for His forgivenss, then the sinner will know the true peace of God, the one true peace in this world that is not fleeting, but is eternal.
