The Eagles - Desperado (live)

I suppose this is my favorite Eagles' tune. Well done piece of music, and the words give you something to think about. Perhaps even more to think about, then many CCM songs today. Or it could just be me, and my R&R/Folk/Fushion type music background.

"Freedom, Ah freedom, yeah, that's just some people talkin',
Your prison is walking through this world all alone."

Impeccable vocals. Their pitch, diction, breathing, dynamics, harmonization, EVERYTHING! The sound is so clean and professional. I wish worship teams took their music as serious as the Eagles do. Secular bands do this for an audience of thousands, but worshipers do it for an audience of One.

The Lord looks at the heart, but he also wants our best, which He supplies BTW, through His grace and Spirit.

The worship band at my last church was excellent. they took the worship very serious, and yet wanted to worship God, and rejoice with the Body of Christ together in hymns, psalms, and spiritual songs.

Those who lead the Body of christ in music and singing to the Lord should be gifted, and practice, and even become better. As it is in all that we do for our Savior really.

Always good to hear from you Craver.

Often times the Lord gives a writer a song (or a lyric) and the one who pens it does not know from whence it came - or why....

We can pray that they find the purpose that the Lord gave them this song.....

For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities-- all things have been created through Him and for Him - Colossians 1:16

That's a good thought Chris. To pray for these artists to come to Christ. I would think they are unbelievers, though I don't know for sure.

Colossians 1:20 says that God, through Jesus will bring everything on earth to be reconciled unto Himself...

It's not just about people - it's all of creation, and yes - even a song - becuase it was created by God, for God, and because of God...

All to the Glory of Christ....

(although - that's a good song too...I like it :) )

I understand creation and God's people, but an Eagle's song I don't see.

How about Benefit for the Devil, by the Stones? Or so many other ungodly songs?

I do see where humans glorify God in their talents, which come from God.
But on the J-Day, God will condemn all the works of sin, and commend all the works of righteousness in His grace.

John Newton will be commended for Amazing Grace, for he wrote this by God's grace and for God glory.

Desperado was written for fun, money, the joy of writing a song, and so they still sing it with enjoyment, but do they do this for God's glory from their hearts?

You got me thinking out loud Chris. Thanks.

Don....

Why a song may have been written, I do not know - but I can assure that the father of all creation? had an integral role in the creative process that whomever the artist was...weather they know or acknowledge it or not - the Lord gave them the creativity to do so.

Their present motive for writing and performing a song - they may think is for carnal purposes...

But one day, I believe they will realize their means.....

That's what I think :)

Interesting Chris. I'm gonna be pondering that.

Hi:

I agree "the world" does music better. I find CC music is so very contrived... I talked with a friend of mine who went to a "worship" conference in town and went to the song writing workshop and found it so... well... contrived because the songs were written for release not the LORD...

Nice to have you stop by my brother.

CCM needs to be torn down, and rebuilt.

There seem to be very few fine artist out there, who write songs for the Lord, and because they are gifted. Rich Mullins was an incredible Christian artist, as an example.

I suppose I need to write an entire post on my feelings in this area.

Thanks for the visit. Lord bless you and your family.
