Here's a song I like, and yet I disagree with Still's passive approach to the war, and law enforcement- not completely of course-, however, I think there may be a time for war, as the Scripture teaches. Of course when he was writing his heart's songs it was in protest to the Vietnam War. And also he was touching on violence within America itself.
I can understand that. I long for the New earth, where there will be no more war, and no more killing, and the Prince of peace, Jesus Christ will rule.
Well, there's much I could say about all this, but I'll simply post this song, (it's an oldie for sure), which I think is passionately sung, and well done by this band, which I actually saw in concert in 1972 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia Maryland.
I pray the Lord would bless Stephen Stills. Amen. (I don't know where his heart is toward Christ the Lord. But I'm supposing he is a non-believer.)
"And it's all in the way you wonder
If you think you're learnin' how
Pick up your feet you don't have to pick up a gun
You can prod the sacred cow
You know the song of love
It's empty now
As it always seems
To have been
You can go on home
Used to be down to tear gas and clubs
What do you think about grenades
(you know like a frag)
Nonsense is as
Nonsense does
The judge's eagle promenades
You know the song of love
It's empty now
As it always seems
To have been
You can go on home
The good book tells us
"thou shalt not kill"
What is the meaning of this phrase
Is it sometimes right and sometimes wrong
Depends if you're foolish or brave" - Stephen Stills, 1972
