"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

A classic ending, to a classic; supposedly the most classic film of the Christmas season.
"Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Christ by highest heav'n adored
Christ the everlasting Lord!
Late in time behold Him come
Offspring of a Virgin's womb
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see
Hail the incarnate Deity
Pleased as man with man to dwell
Jesus, our Emmanuel
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"
Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"-Charles Wesley
This hymn is also the one sang in Peanuts, "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown". Seems very natural in the old days to sing about Christ on Christmas. It was more taken for granted I think, but there was a simple understanding that Christmas was all about Jesus Christ, and His birth. A generation later it is quite different isn't it. A more humanistic atmosphere, so to speak. Less reverence for the Church and even Christ Himself.
I just wanted to share a bit of my heart. It's really difficult to figure it all out, how society is changing for the worse, and America becoming less and less Christian, and more and more pagan. Not that we were ever a Christian nation. But Christ, and the Bible, had a much greater influence than it does today. However, on the brighter side of life, the darker it gets, the brighter the genuine saints of God will be able to shine for the Gospel, and for our heavenly Father.
So it is a bitter sweet thing for me.
Anyhow, it's nice to have a blog where I can clear my head and write down my thoughts. And if later on I don't like them, then I can delete them. How cool is that!

Well, that's what some folks say. The real and original point of celebration at this time of year is the passage of the shortest day. The sun returns, now that is really something to be joyful about!
I agree, for I love the summer time the most.
