I found this at Hip and Thigh. A lot to read, but well worth it.
The one thing we can be sure of is that you cannot trust man. Look over the history of man, and you will observe without a doubt he has a corrupt nature. The world likes to cheat and lie. There will always be the pride of life, the lust of the flesh, and lust of the eyes to deal with in this life. Even with Christ as one's Lord and Savior, there will be a terrific struggle. So how much more for men still under the sway of the god of this world.
And having said all that, I do also acknowledge that throughout history, God's great grace has been upon unbelievers as well, to give us honest answers to difficult questions, such as Nicolaus Copernicus (19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543). And there are others as well. There have also been many believers who have been blessed with bright minds, who have helped us see the difficult truths in this world and universe.
But we must never be naive, and trust man completely, without challenging him. Amen?
