But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves." John 17:13

"I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth."

This is a portion of our Lord's prayer to His Father just before His excruciating death and suffering were to take place. This is the holiest ground of the Scriptures one can walk upon, for me that is. The whole Bible is of course holy, however to listen in on this most intimate and perfect love being expressed from our Savior to His Father, is a great honor indeed. It's a chapter of the Bible that I love, and cherish really.

I read these words to my Mom at St. Joseph's this evening, -(she is 90 & one half years old)-, and my Mom actually wept softly, just for a moment. Was it the Holy Spirit in my Mom's heart touching her? I don't know. She loves the Lord, and yet she has dementia, and can not communicate very well. But it's possible.

I do know our Lord was in great agony at this time as He prayed to His Father with a heart of love for His disciples, and for all who would come to believe the Gospel, and become followers of Jesus Christ.

Here's a mystery part of Jesus' prayer. Jesus said in this prayer, "I do not pray for the world." That's something deep to think about I thought.

And I will comment on it a bit more tomorrow. For now, ponder all these wonderful and astounding words in our Lord's prayer, and be blessed. And go and simply read the 17th chapter of John for yourself, and see if the Savior doesn't touch your heart. And surely the Holy Spirit will use these most holy and loving words of truth to renew your mind as well.
