Sons of Korah Psalm 125 Like Mount Zion LIVE
I was very edified by how worshipful this band sang and played, as well with their expertise. I hope they are brothers in the Lord. I can't imagine they're not.
I'd love to see crazy Shane again. It's been a long time.
I love the sound this band makes. It has a hint of Hebrew in there I thought. Made me think of the Jews, back during the good days of Israel, singing this psalm as they went up to Jerusalem, with great joy and love for the LORD, who has been merciful and faithful to His people.
The song is no doubt beautiful and the band is extremely talented, but when quoting a sentence from Psalm 125 like "Do good Lord to those who are good..." it seems necessary to qualify that statement with the work of Christ on our behalf. Otherwise, you might as well be saying to God, "Lord, do good only to your Son, Jesus Christ, for He alone is truly good. Let the rest of mankind be banished as evil doers, for we have all turned to crooked ways."
One more evidence in my mind that it is often essential to interpret Old Testament passages in light of the gospel of Christ.
Triston, I get your point. But I think it's alright to simply sing the original words of the Psalm writer. I suppose they simply wanted to sing Psalm 125, though they did leave out "Peace upon Israel". I suppose it would have made the ending awkward or something.
Don, I agree with you. It is okay and good to simply sing the Word of God. The song is great. Perhaps God will mainly just use this song in the life of believers, but I know He could use any part of His Word, including this Psalm, to somehow convict unbelievers.
