"For with God nothing shall be impossible." St. Luke 1:37
Gabriel spoke this marvelous words from the Lord to Mary, and he said this directly, and referring to, I think, her cousin, Elisabeth, who had conceived a son, and was in her sixth month, and she was quite elderly to boot.
But the greater impossibilty was that Mary would have a Son, and that this would happen from God. There was no human husband. Talk about impossible!
And in the midst of these miraculous things happening, you have the simplicity of two gentle and godly women, who loved the Lord. These were wonderful women of the Lord.
The Catholic Church overemphazies Mary in her role as a child of God. And much of what they teach is even blasphemous. But she was a true example of humility and faith for us all. Was there a woman of more faith? Mary was born in sin as all humans are, and she needed a Savior, and she knew that. What it must have been like for her to find that she would be the woman who bore the Messiah in her own womb. Now there's something to meditate upon.
Nothing is impossible for the Lord God. And He will do everything He has eternally purposed to do. And the Lord invites us to come and join Him. All we need to say is,"Behold the servant of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word." Luke 1:38
