"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

Some thoughts on guns from Harrison Ford in "Witness", and Allan Ladd in "Shane" & John Stossel, on CNN. I owned a Mossberg 12 gauge pump. Nice gun.
The United States Constitution
Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Stossel makes sense. He uses history and logic and backs his case up with real statistics. The writers of the second amendment did not mean a pea shooter for scaring off rodents; the modern equivalent of what they were using would be an M-16. It was a weapon for the people to defend themselves against a tyrannical government.
Not that I would ever want to shoot a person! I believe I have a good handle on right and wrong.
As far as home intruders... if the bad guys knew that I had a gun and would not be an easy victim, how likely is it that they would pick me or my family for a home invasion?
I cannot find a good biblical precedent for making Christians so vulnerable, or even the idea of pacifism, which I think is offensive. It is our duty to defend the innocent, and take a responsible stand against wrongdoers.
