"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"God is love."-John, the sinner, fisherman, Apostle, disciple, and friend of Jesus. (John's first letter to the Church 4:16)
"...John extols the virtue of love as supreme in the Christian life. This is so because God himself is love, and because God, in His love, sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for sins. In laying down His life for others, Jesus not only provided atonement for sin, He also showed us how to love others. Therefore, those who would walk as Jesus walked must live a life of supremely characterized by love."-Andreas J. Kostenberger
Two things are necessary here. A definition of Love, and how can a sinner love God.
1. Love: 1st Corinthians 13.
2. "We love because he first loved us." 1st John 4:19
