" .. let the peace of God rule your hearts.."

I know we all pray for this. We cry, "God give me that peace!, or Lord I long to have peace in my heart and soul, please help me have peace!".

Who wouldn't want to have a peaceful soul; a content mind. And here it is clear that this is the Lord's will for our lives. And doesn't it seem we have just the opposite ruling our hearts. Anxiousness seems to rule my heart. I'm more uptight, then upright most of the time.
So what's the answer. I believe it's four fold. The born again believer must have four disciplines working in his life for God's peace to rule our hearts.

1. Worship. (And this includes corporate, not just under a tree somewhere worship.)
2. The Scriptures, all 66 books. (This includes reading, studying, and meditating. Being taught truth.)
3. Prayer. (Praying: in our closets, with the church; without ceasing, etc.)
4. Fellowship. (This means committed to a local body of believers, when possible.)

If we are, by faith, involved in these four disciplines, and there will be varying degrees, then we will have God's peace ruling our hearts. And what a blessing this is from God. And though it surely is a peace that passes all knowledge, it's purpose is for the glory of Christ, the Prince of peace.
To God be all glory and honor, for He is worthy. Amen.

When you have walked in the peace that passeth understanding you are loath to do things to remove yourself from it and oh so aware when you are.
