"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"Meeting God without Christ is Hell."
Does this quote ring a bell? Any insight to who the author is would be appreciated.
Sounds a bit like something I heard from a Piper sermon. I can't remember which sermon, but he was talking about how when we are in heaven we get God. Then he posed this question (paraphrased): If God wasn't in heaven would you still want to go?
I've been trying to remember which sermon I heard it on, and I am pretty sure the topic wasn't "heaven" or "hell." He took a little tangent. I heard it prior to February of 06. Narrows things down a tiny bit!
