"Enter ye in at the strait gate" -Jesus
"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it." Matt. 7:14
Christ is that gate. Jesus said that He was the door by which one must eneter to have eternal life. And this gate is only wide enough to allow one in at a time. God is the One who gathers His lost sheep, who are wandering through life on the broad road. And this broad way leads to one destination, condemnation and destruction. That's something that should cuase us to tremble a little.
Jesus never minced His words. He said it plain for all to hear, when the subject was eternal death verses eternal life. It's not a mistery. Paul said to the church in Corinth, that they had fallen for all these false teachers, with all their words and ideas, and had left the simplicity that is in Christ.
The Gospel is Christ. He is the good news. The bad news is that, unless one bows the knee to Christ, and crys to Him for mercy, then they shall never have eternal life, but will perish.
Jeus says, "Come unto me all you heavy hearted, and sin worn people, who are tire of the burden of sin, the world, and your own flesh, and I'll remove that burden, and give you everlasting life, and that life will be with Me, forever in a kingdom that is pure love and righteousness!"
"So repent, turn from your sin, your selfishness, and come to Me,a nd receive forgiveness for your sin, and then walk on the strait and narrow. And I will be withh you all the way, for it is a difficult way, but full of love, joy and peace; and also rest for your soul."
This is the simplicity of the good news God brought to this earth. And when one sinner comes to repentance and faith, and this is simply bowing your heart to Christ as lord, then a million angels in heaven rejoice, and magnify God, for His awesome grace, which brought another lost child into the everlasting kingdom of love.
