"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"..He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read."
"And there was delievered unto Him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the scroll, He found the place where it was written,
THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR: HE HAS SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES AND RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED,
TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.
And He closed the scroll, and He gave it agian to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.
And He began to say unto them, 'This day is this Scripture fulfilled in your ears." Luke 4:16-21
Jesus was the Messiah come to earth; the One they were all praying for. And yet they didn't recognize Him. In fact they became so angry at the Lord, that they took him out of the city and were going to throw Him over a cliff head first, and murder Him.
People still do the same today. Jesus manifests Himself through His Church to the Jews, and all the world, and they still hate Him, and would love to throw Him head first down that same hill if they could; but they can't.
Surely there are those who do see Jesus, and bow their knee and heart to Him; who by His grace, come to repentance and faith.
We need to be encouraged to share Christ, and our testimony with the Jews, and the world. Some will hate us, but some may come to repentance and faith as well. But that's God's job to do the heart changing. Ours is to share the hope of our heart. We should be able to say, "Christ alone is my hope, and my salavtion. He died for me and my sins, and He rose from the dead, and He lives in order to gather a people for His own; undeserving sinners like me, and you. So come to Christ. Bow your heart and knee before Him. Ask Him to accept you, to forgive you, to have mercy on you, and if His grace comes upon you, then you shall become a new creation, and new person. One who hates sin, and loves goodness; one who sees the Cross, where Christ died as a glorious thing. And whose heart will see a risen Lord Jesus, who lives forever, and is coming again." Hallelujah!

Good points Don.
Thanks Wayne.
What it must have been like to hear Jesus read the Scripture from the pulpit. How I would have loved to have been there.
But just to hear Him speak at all, He was speaking Scripture.
