"Bye Bye Miss American Pie"

Don McLean wrote quite an epic of a song way back in the early 1970's, which spoke to many tragedies at that time, and though it was an uplifting tune, it was a very dark composition, and yet a classic piece of work. I wonder If he could write another epic now for the dark time we are in, which I see as much worse. He says in this song:

"And the three men I admire the most,
The Father, Son & the Holy Ghost,
Have caught the last train for the coast."

I wonder if he was thinking of the Triune God here? And using this phrase as a metaphor for God departing from the heart of the American culture?

Where is God with our nation today?

This could be our next president. His being the most liberal Senator, and having no experience in leadership skills, causes me to pass him by. Not to mention his stance on partial birth abortion, and being the only Senator to vote 4 times against the "Born Alive Act", which protects the life of a child born a live, so that this same child should be cared for. Mr. Obama, says, we need to let this child die.

I will be voting for McCain. (I really liked Fred Thompson.) So without saying a whole lot about it all, because I'm not very excited really, I will say that John McCain is pro-life, and he declared he would work to overturn the heinous law from 1973, which never should have been.

Having said all this, I must keep my eyes fixed on the author and finisher of my faith, Jesus Christ. He is the risen Lamb of God, who died for my sins, and who sits in absolute sovereign authority over all things on earth, and even in heaven.
May the Lord have mercy on America, is my hearts cry. God is longsuffering and kind, but He's also a holy omnipotent God.

"The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord [Yahweh], and against His anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord [Yahweh] shall have them in derision." Psalm 2:2-4

I agree Don. I'm not excited to vote for McCain - but will on the account that Obama is blatantly not pro-life, and even more so he has lied. There is no question he lies. He will say one thing one week and the next deny he said it. He has directly contradicted himself time and time again. He certainly has very little experience and (in my opinion) hasn’t the understanding to confront the culture in America today.

With a democratically charged congress, executive office & judicial branch it would be very possible now to pass HJ Res 24 which, if passed, would be an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.

And then we would have “true” democracy…which is not something to which I look forward. Pure “democracy” is rule by majority. In effect, it is mob rule.

We have strayed from our republic form of government now for nearly 50 years (if not more)...and we are starting to see the brash consequences for our past mistakes.

Good thoughts Chris. To get back to being a Republic would be nice for our children, and children's children.
May the Lord grant us that liberty and goodness once again.

"My country, 'tis of Thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountainside
Let freedom ring!"

"Our father's God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's holy light,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King."

Here's another verse, my favorite.
