"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"..we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation." Romans 5:11
"The Biblical doctrine of the sacrifice of Christ finds full recognition in no other construction than that of the established church-doctrine of satisfaction. According to it, our Lord's redeeming work is at its core a true and perfect sacrifice offered to God, of intrinsic value ample for the expiation of our guilt; and at the same time is a true and perfect righteousness offered to God in fulfillment of the demands of His law; both the one and the other being offered in behalf of His people, and, on being accepted by God, accruing to their benefit; so that by this satisfation they are relieved at once from their curse of their guilt as breakers of the law, and from the burden of the law as a condition of life; and this by a work of such kind and performed in such a manner, as to carry home to the hearts of men a profound sense of the indefectible righteousness of God and to make to them a perfect revelation of His love; so that, by this one and indivisible work, both God is reconciled to us, and we, under the quickening influence of the Spirit bought for us by it, are reconciled to God, so making peace--external peace between an angry God and sinful men, and internal peace in the response of the human conscience to the restored smile of God." -Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield
Thank You Lord for redeeming us. You are our only Redeemer. You are our peace. And nothing can seperate us from our Redeemer, King, and Friend. Amen.

Thanks for the quote, Don,
Death is the penalty for sin. Jesus had no sin of his own. He could not have died because he had no sin, unless he took the sins of others upon himself. Even then, he was not killed but gave up his own spirit. This is how I know Jesus carried my sins to the cross and satisfied the holy demands of a thrice-holy God.
Have a blessed Easter!
Thanks Dave. Jesus lives!
Don,
I'm sorry to read from you over on Dan Kimball's blog that Scot on Jesus Creed deleted your comment(s). That was a mistake on Scot's part.
He misread you, and if he read you regularly he would realize you're of a different spirit than some who have been on his blog over the years (I've followed his blog for around three years or more). Some have a similar theology to yours, and are at least a bit wary of emergent as you are (and not all is well under that label), but they do not have the Christ-like spirit which you clearly have.
So again I'm sorry to have read that from you. Scot probably made a quick decision. Will be good when we're all completely living out this reconciliation in Jesus, together!
Ted,
Thanks for coming by. Scot actually did post two out four of my last comments. i guess he's just a bit more picky. That's okay with me.
The thing is, he needs to see that he is just as biased as we all are. I hope he does some day. Then we can have a bit more common ground methinks.
Don,
I think we're all biased, to be sure. I don't always track with Scot or understand what he's getting at, especially in some of his own comments, and even with some of what he says on his posts. But in his books, particularly those published by Paraclete with Lil Copan his editor, he is crystal clear.
I still think, though, that he simply misunderstands you. With some who hold to your theological point of view, they are caustic or have been so, in spirit on his blog. So I'm still thinking that he misreads you, which is too bad.
I suppose it's just one of those things which will not be entirely reconciled or settled this side of heaven. I have to admit that I've been most perturbed by other Christians. But we are one in Jesus, and what unites us should and will overcome all that divides us in the end. Praise God for that!
AMen. He is risen! and he saved me!
He is risen indeed mommanator!
Good thoughts Ted. Thanks for sharing.
Maybe some of my comments need to be deleted as well. I can sometimes get too far under another persons fingernails; too critical.
Lord bless.
