"Our peace and joy are at the present very imperfect. They are as nothing to what we shall have when Christ returns. For the return let us look and long and pray. Let us place it in the forefront of all our doctrinal system, next to the atoning death and the interceding life of our Lord. The highest style of Christians are the men who look for and love the Lord's appearing. (2 Tim. iv. 8.) -JC Ryle
"Aim at Heaven and you will get Earth thrown in. Aim at Earth and you get neither." -CS Lewis
"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." -St. Paul

We need to continually grow in Jesus' grace and knowledge, as the Apsotle Simon Peter tells us. And who would know better than this ex-fisherman. Peter surely looked forward to seeing the Lord come to him, for Jesus said these words face to face with Peter. And yet Peter had to die a excruciating death, being crucified, even upsidedown perhaps. I have to believe Peter focused on Christ, and His promise to come and restore all things, for he goes into great detail in his second epsitle of Christ's return, and so this truth no doubt emboldened him to endure through this life; even endure torture and death.
So, as the Bishop Ryle says: "For the return let us look and long and pray."

Don,
You should check out what this beowulf2k8 guy just wrote against the Apostle Paul at my site, calling Paul the antichrist, denying that his writings are the Word of God, etc. This man is crazy!!!
Thanks Triston.
