One more post concerning 9/11

"A photograph of a firefighter floats among flowers in the reflecting pool at Ground Zero during the eighth anniversary remembrance of the attacks on Sept. 11."

"Mourners of 9/11 victims visit the reflecting pool at Ground Zero during the eighth anniversary commemoration ceremony marking the Sept. 11 attacks that killed 2,700 people."

The actual number of lost lives was 2,752. They read each name to honor them.

These attacks, and deaths, should really make us think about how life is so uncertain. And so, are you ready to die? I am. God's truth and grace have rescued me from death's sting. Though death is evil, and I hate to deal with it, we still need to see Jesus' victory over death, don't we.

As a famous poet wrote these marvelous words:

"DEATH be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadfull, for, thou art not so,
For, those, whom thou think'st, thou dost overthrow,
Die not, poore death, nor yet canst thou kill me." -John Donne
(1572-1631)

The Apostle Paul tells us in his inspired epistle to the Christians in Corinth:

" Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain." [1 Corinthians 15:55-58]

One last video from Springsteen; another song telling of 9/11.

"On the plains of Jordan
I cut my bow from the wood
Of this tree of evil
Of this tree of good
I want a kiss from your lips
I want an eye for an eye
I woke up this morning to an empty sky"

Not sure what Bruce means here. Perhaps bow represents war, or terrorism?
