"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

"And Joseph also went up ... with Mary his wife, being great with Child." Luke 2:4-5
I am always blessed at this time of year to read through the events that took place on the first Christmas.
I am reading through Luke's account, and there's always something fresh in the Word. And even the same truth that we read over and over never gets old to our deepest soul. Our flesh may become bored, but the inner man is renewed daily by the truth of God. The truth that He came to be born of a woman, and "in the likeness of sinful flesh", and so to put an end to sin's power in the life of His elect people. Why? Why would God do this? Because He loved us. Surely for His glory most of all, but also, He loved us. And, also, the Word, which was God, became flesh, because He loved us, His people; His elect children.
Why? Why would He loves us; those who do not love Him, and are rebels? I'll never be able to answer that question. For only God, in His own heart understands that one.
But we can be confident, and rejoice, that He surely does love us. What a God, and a Savior we have! Hallelujah!
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels. preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." 1 Tim. 3:16
"Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord." -John F. Wade
