"Yea, a Sword shall Pierce through Thy own Soul" Luke 2:35

These words spoken by the prophet Simeon to Mary surley must be concerning Jesus' death. Our Lord Jesus would suffer before the eyes of His mother, and she would suffer as well.

Mary surely rejoiced in the birth of her Son, and without any doubt loved Him through out His life. She also beheld Him as He was falsely accused, beaten and scourged. And then she saw Him crucified and murdered.
That's a sword of excruciating pain to one's soul. That's a pain which must have been unbearable, and beyond comprehension. To watch your Son go through such vile treatment, and being hated with such hatred is like no other piercing to one's soul. But her's was more than any other mother, for her Son was God the Son.

I hope and pray I shall learn from this sword that Mary had to bear.

The Lord God knew from all eternity He would one Day invade this sin filled rebellous earth of mankind, by taking on human flesh Himself. And He would be born to a chosen woman, who loved God, and would love God in a way that she alone could. And she would bear a pain that only she could endure as well.

I thank the Lord for this incredible woman of the Lord. Though the Catholic Church falsely bestows qualities to her that the Bible forbids, we Protestants need to understand that there was no woman on earth who lived a life as she did. She was, and is, a great woman to admire and learn from.
