"So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown."-George Bennard

" .. and they rolled a stone against the door of the tomb." Mark 14:46
[[Rembrandt's perception of the moment when Mary turns her head and sees the newly-risen Jesus. He is holding a spade to explain her initial belief that he was a gardener]]
" ... on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. And they said among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away--for it was very large." Mark 16:2-4
The tomb stone wasn't rolled away so the Lord Jesus could come out, but so they could look in.
What a truth we have! What a Lord and God we have! Jesus was murdered on a Cross, and He was surely dead, and on the third day, He came back to life. He even has the scars from the nails and the spear still in His body, which He shows the disciples.
"Then He [Jesus] said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at my hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into my side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." John 20:24
To believe in the Gospel, (the good news that Jesus died and rose again), is to be spiritually alive; born anew from God. It means the sinful wicked heart now longs to turn from sin, and turn to the Lord Jesus.
When one believes in Christ, then one bows the knee to Christ as Lord, and so trusts in Him, and obeys His word. This is what a forgiven sinner looks like. This is how a disciple of Jesus shall live out His life. Never perfectly, but always trusting and fighting the good fight of faith by His grace.
